In reality, while there are over 150 “brands” of HVAC equipment, there are just six manufacturers. Each manufacturer uses different paint colors, labels and advertising to set their brands apart. Ingersoll Rand is the parent company of both American Standard and Trane, which are identical in every way except paint color and label.
American Standard may be considered a “luxury” brand, but it is built to last and it is worth every penny. While residential and consumer customers can expect to replace lesser brands of HVAC units in about 12 years, American Standard equipment will typically be in use for an additional decade – nearly twice as long as the cheaper brands.
